My Opportunity

Deb Lewin, a national ParaEquestrian champion and master NLP Practitioner, is a
much sought after motivational speaker, drawing her inspiration and courage from her life’s experiences. Prior to her “opportunity” in 1996, when she was broadsided by another vehicle, she was an International able-bodied athlete, representing two Countries in field hockey and squash.

Deb was born and raised in Africa, in a Country now called Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia). She became an American Citizen in 1992 and worked in the video industry, was a paramedic, taught Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and was a ropes challenge course instructor.

Deb spends a lot of her time volunteering at Equest and other non-profit organizations and has been featured in many magazines and newspaper articles, nationwide.

She was a member of Team USA - a ParaEquestrian Dressage Team competing Internationally, has won UPHA National Championship Equitation titles, AQHA Year End High Point Awards, the Equest Levi Strauss Award, NARHA Independent Equestrian Award and JDRF Golden Sneaker Award, to name just a few.

She has also taken this “opportunity” to motivate others with her can-do attitude and sense of humour. Deb
recently went skiing in Aspen Colorado – her first skiing experience ever – and she plans to go again. Since
her opportunity, Deb has parasailed, taken a flight in a helicopter, landed on a moving glacier, swam with the
dolphins and enjoyed deep sea fishing in Alaska. Deb is an inspiration to all she meets and is being featured
in a documentary called "From Fear to Faith - Ordinary People, ExtraOrdinary Lives."
